Artists are emerging as authors and entrepreneurs in a variety of new markets and media. Methods such as print-on-demand book, the wave of self-publication, prototyping, high-end output devices and laser-cutters intersect with new creative directions. Bodyware imagery, instructional and socially inspired projects, web-based critique, archives, games, animation, and literary works are a few of the directions being taken to create content and express ideas.
OUTCOME By the end of the course, you will have realized the project stated in your proposal. This will happen by means of fabrication, documentation, marketing and distribution. Recording ideas, collaboration, networking and peer community is important to your success. Stay disciplined in your approach to insure you project is completed on time. To pass this class, each project must be placed in the Art Market, Dec 8-11.
ADVANCED WORK This class is independent, requiring you to initiate your own research. Presentations and demos are given to broaden your skills, enhance marketing savvy and networking awareness. Websites, and articles are given to supplement your own research.

GRADES One grade will be given at the end of the semester. A midterm critique will establish your progress to date, and provide an estimate for your final grade if your work remains consistent. Your final grade is based on the quality of ideas, research, attendance, community participation, use of feedback and ability to get your project realized.
